The children of Northern Nigeria, have faced difficult experiences like conflict, abuse, lack, and sudden loss, that has left them feeling emotionally broken and sometimes depressed, with no opportunity to grow, learn and discover themselves. But here at Hasken Rayuwa Foundation, our goal is to help nurture these children to be better versions of themselves, through Trauma healing counselling, teaching about God, purpose, personal growth, career path, and skill acquisition. In our Annual Summer Camp program we support these children to grow physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually, for the bright future ahead of them.

1. We teach the Bible and prayers, which is the best support system they need to navigate life. As vulnerable children, this we give them a sense of purpose, hope, and faith, as they grow and face challenges .
2. Our summer camp gives these children access to basic needs by providing essential materials of support, like, clothes, underwear, pads, and school materials. This is a way of relieving the financial burden on struggling families and caregivers.
3. Teaching them vocational or practical skills helps in empowering them, by giving them the confidence and a way toward independence and financial growth for themselves and families.
4.Being a part of the summer camp will give them a sense of safety even if only for a few days. The camp serves as a secured space where they can freely be themselves, learn and grow.
5. Engaging them in our well planned games and outdoor activities helps in improving their physical development, keeping their minds active and healthy during the school break. Taking them out to explore their environment also helps in expanding their worldview, as some of them come from underdeveloped communities where advanced buildings, and other things are not found there, like Banks, Museums, long buildings and other modern facilities. By doing this, we feed their curiosity and give them a bigger view of what the world has to offer.
6. Receiving gifts has a way of making one feel seen and appreciated. By doing so, we make these children feel valued, loved, and seen, and this will help in boosting their self-esteem, giving them the armour to resist negative peers at home and school.
7. We give them assignments, such as memory verses, quiz competition, poetry recitation and more in order to help build their cognitive abilities. When also pair them up with one another, in order to teach them teamwork, respect, and how to build healthy, lasting friendships.
8. Their time away from home in a structured camp setting allows these children to develop their confidence and learn how to make good decisions for themselves.
