Our just concluded 5-day Summer Camp for out-of-school children was nothing short of divine. With the theme, “Knowing Yahweh and Fearing Him,” our heart was to do more than just keep the children busy for the holidays. We wanted them to truly encounter Yahweh for themselves.The opening day rather came with a lot of surprises, we recorded over 80 children and on the 5th day, we have over 100 children., it was truly far beyond our expectations.For five days, we journeyed together.
My team and I, handled different sessions with them. They were taught what prayer is and showed how to pray, and together we lifted up our country in payers, praying for peace across the land. It was beautiful to see little hands lifted and little voices crying out to Yahweh.
We also explored Yahweh as the Creator and the first Artist. Teaching them that creativity comes from Him, and we expressed it through drawing, singing, writing and other amazing artistic ways. They had a practical drawing class which was fun and their artworks were amazing.Because we care for the totality of every child, we brought in sessions on health education, sex education, and trauma healing. Many of these children are carrying things they cannot explain, and we saw healing begin to take place in their lives. The power of God came down. Healing took place, broken hearts were mended, and some of the children received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I watched with joy as Yahweh ministered to the hearts of His little ones.
We also had so much fun with our poetry and memory verses recitation competition. The children were bold, confident, intelligent and full of joy, from the biggest to the smallest of them. We had remarkable moments and on our final day.At the end of every camp, we give the final day more to prayers and intercession, and we usually have the children gather around the Map and pray intensively over all the African countries and beyond for God’s peace and stability to reign.
We came to teach them about fearing Yahweh, but Yahweh Himself truly showed up to reveal Himself to them and To Him be all the glory.
