Every child deserves safe water to learn, grow, and thrive in a healthy environment.

The state of clean water in Northern Nigeria is a critical issue fashioned by severe geographical disparities and lack of significant infrastructure. According to data from Nigeria National Bureau Of Statistics (NBS), Northern zones consistently record the lowest access to improved water and sanitation services in the country. In the month of April, the Hasken Rayuwa Foundation donated a borehole to a community in Jigawa.

By building a water borehole, we are showing our support and setting a reminder that access to clean safe water is not optional but a necessity. A borehole provides a stable safe water as assistance to women and girls who daily spend time going to distant streams to get water that is usually contaminated and results to cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and diarrhea.

Worldwide, access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) is critical for child survival, with unsafe water contributing to over 443,000 annual deaths in children under five. Clean water prevents diseases like cholera, diarrhea, and typhoid, while reducing malnutrition and improving education by preventing school absences, according to World Health Organisation (WHO).

At, Hasken Rayuwa Foundation, our programmes focuses on community level impact, and providing clean and sustainable water solutions where they are needed is one of the ways we bring about transformation to our communities. Thanks to our Partner Organisations for their consistent support. We believe, together we will reach out to more communities with lasting transformations.
