Many believe that prayer is meant for the adults forgetting that the spirit of God has no age limit. They are not too young to intercede. Children have a powerful grace to pray and intercede for their families, communities and the country at large effectively. Prayer plays a significant role in our lives and families. A strong Faith to support children’s holistic development. It helps with spiritual growth, dependence in God, moral values, and a sense of connection to God. Prayer is a life support system we need always.
At Hasken Rayuwa Foundation, we teach these children to cultivate the habit of praying, to trust God enough to take everything to him in prayers. For Prayers is for everyone and every child regardless of who they or where they come from. Jesus said, we shouldn’t stop little children from coming to him, that is, when we teach them how to pray, we are holding them by their hands and taking them to Jesus through prayer. we are literally presenting them to him and teaching them how to talk to him at an early stage.
As great leaders of tomorrow, they will grow up to become people with strong spiritual statue and focus. Imagine a power house of vibrant young people, shaped by prayers, who are in a constant communication with God, they will be men and women who are led by the spirit.
Our Organisation aims to raise godly and prayerful children whose life and purpose is directed by the precepts of God. Children should learn that they can seek guidance, express thanksgiving, or share their concerns with God, and this will help in nurturing their faith from an early age. Teaching children to pray helps them understand that a higher power who is God, is real, approachable, and very interested and important in their lives. It teaches them to show gratitude, reverence, and trust in God, than themselves or any human being.
We teach them to pray because, we want them to learn how to talk to God first about everything. Like a simple conversation between a child and his father. This allows them to slowly articulate and process their grief, preventing the trauma they are facing from becoming completely part of them. We teach them to learn to trust him completely, and to encourage personal relationship with him through their quiet time.
Also, dealing with children who are victims of abuse, violence, banditry and pain that has left them traumatized needs divine intervention to help them heal, and grow. Because, such children usually store up immense fear and anger. But through prayers we show them that they are not alone, they are completely safe, and they can privately express their rawest emotions without fear. It tells them that their pain is seen and that it is okay to cry out for help.
Praying gives them a sense of protection and they will always remember that they are deeply loved by God Almighty. It helps rebuild their hope in an environment that feels unpredictable and terrifying. Especially with the continuous kidnapping and banditry across the country, this can cause the children to live in intense fear and helplessness, but by praying for peace, justice, and a better tomorrow, will help with their capacity to hope, keep their spirits alive in every situation.
Teaching children to pray goes far beyond a religious ritual, it’s about cultivating a habit of the heart and a lifestyle. By introducing prayer early, children are provided with a lifelong supply for emotional comfort, moral clarity, and spiritual strength. Prayer holds their identity and expands their minds, and prepares them to face the world with a steady spirit.
One truth is, a child who knows how to pray is never truly lost, it’s like giving them an internal compass that will guide them safely through all of life’s journey.
