According to WHO, Northern states in Nigeria face extreme health challenges. Northern East, up to 46% of health facilities were reported to be fairly destroyed or damaged due to conflict. The building often old and not functional, with a shortage of trained staffs, leaving residents with no access to basic care.
Women and children suffer more health challenges, because the mother is tied with the traditional responsibility of the home, while children are mostly the ones with the responsibility of raising financial support for the family, through hard labour, and this makes them vulnerable to illnesses.
