Teachers are like pillars that hold the They are the foundation that helps shape our future and prepare us for it. Beyond the classroom they help us morally, and socially. Their efforts and contributions towards society cannot over emphasized. Meet one of our teachers at Hasken Rayuwa Foundation.
My name is Joshua Chiroma, and I am a CRS and History teacher. I became a teacher because I wanted to serve my community and contribute to the development of my country. Sharing his experience in this profession so far, he said, “over the past one and a half years, teaching has not only helped me share knowledge with students but has also deepened my own understanding of God’s Word.”
One of the challenges he faced was helping students develop discipline. “Through patience, love, and wisdom from the Lord, I learned how to guide them positively.” My goal is to help students grow both academically and spiritually, equipping them with good character and a strong foundation in Christ, he added.
Discipleship as a part of our organisation’s core purpose has had a profound impact on Mr Joshua’s life. He shares, “Discipleship has strengthened my faith, given me confidence to share the Gospel, and helped me see teaching as a ministry. Through my work, I have had opportunities to share the love of Christ with students and participate in community outreach programmes.”
Sharing the impact of serving under our organisation so far, he said, “Before I joined Hasken Rayuwa Africa Ministry, there was no CRS teacher in my school. By God’s grace, many students have now learned about Jesus and grown in their understanding of the Christian faith. Seeing this transformation brings me great joy.”
” I also encourage parents, supporters, and communities to help young people attend school and learn the Word of God so they can become responsible citizens and contribute to a peaceful society.”
A brief biography of Mr Joshua Chiroma
My name is Joshua Chiroma, born on 13 August 1984 in Sabon Kauran Geji village, Miri Ward, Bauchi LGA, Bauchi State. I attended Buzaye Primary School from 1994 to 1999, Shada Wanka Army Barracks Government Day Secondary School, Bauchi, from 1999 to 2005, and later obtained my National Certificate in Education (NCE) from Bayara Theological College of Education between 2017 and 2020.
My favorite Bible passages are John 3:16–18 and Joshua 1:5–9, and I enjoy reading and studying the Word of God. One of the things that encourages me most is seeing how people listen to my advice and respond positively to my teachings, both spiritually and academically. From the book of Joshua, especially chapter 1, I learned that God called Joshua to lead His people after the death of Moses. God encouraged him to be strong, courageous, and obedient, assuring him that He would be with him. Through faith and obedience, Joshua succeeded. These lessons have greatly blessed and strengthened me in my ministry. Glory be to God Almighty.
His advice and encouragement to young learners, “My encouragement to young learners is to work hard in their studies and walk with God daily.” Lastly, “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve through teaching and pray that God will continue to use me to impact lives for His glory.”
